General entrance examination Applicant eligibility

  1. A person who has graduated from a senior high school or a secondary school or who is expected to graduate from one in March 2019
  2. A person who has completed 12 years of school education under the ordinary curriculum or who is expected to complete this in March 2019
  3. A person who is deemed to have scholastic ability equivalent to or greater than that of senior high school graduates or who is expected to be deemed so by March 31, 2019
  1. (1)A person who has completed a 12-year curriculum of school education in a foreign country, or a person who has an equivalent qualification as recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
  2. (2)A person who has completed or is expected to complete a curriculum in an overseas educational institution whose curriculum is certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to be equivalent to that of a senior high school.
  3. (3)A person who has completed or is expected to complete a subject designated separately by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as an advanced course at a specialized training college (limited to a course whose term is at least three years and that meets the other standards established by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) on or after the date designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
  4. (4)A person whose qualifications have been recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
  5. (5)A person who has passed or is expected to pass the Certificate for Students Achieving the Proficiency Level of Upper Secondary School Graduates, conducted pursuant to the Rules for the Certificate for Students Achieving the Proficiency Level of Upper Secondary School Graduates (or the University Entrance Qualification Test, conducted pursuant to the old rules)
  6. (6)A person who has entered university pursuant to the provisions of Paragraph 2 of Article 90 of the School Education Act and who is deemed to have scholastic ability suitable to receive a university education at the University

Examination results are sent by express mail on the respective examination result announcement dates.
A "certificate of qualification for entrance" is sent to those who are deemed to be qualified to enter the University as a result of the examination.

Special entrance examination for foreign students Applicant eligibility

A person who has foreign citizenship, who will reach the age of 18 by March 31, 2019, and who falls under one of categories (1) to (5) below

  1. (1)A person who has completed a 12-year curriculum of school education in a foreign country and who has a university entrance qualification in that country or who is expected to complete such a course and acquire such a qualification
  2. (2)A person who has passed the university entrance qualification test in a foreign country pursuant to the education system of that country
  3. (3)A person who has acquired the International Baccalaureate qualification, the Abitur qualification, the Baccalaureate qualification, GCE A level qualification, or Cambridge International AS&A Level qualification
  4. (4)A person who has graduated from a foreign school where the ordinary curriculum before entering university is less than 12 years, and who has completed or is expected to complete the curriculum for preparatory education for entering a university in Japan in an educational institute designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
  5. (5)A person who completed the course of 12 years of the foreign school which received authorization in the international evaluation group or a person of the completion possibility.
