The Natsume Soseki Android

In celebration of our 140th anniversary, Nishogakusha University is reviving one of our most famous students – the literary giant of the Meiji period, Natsume Soseki – in the form of an android.
This challenging technological project is a collaboration of Osaka University robotics researcher Hiroshi Ishiguro, the Asahi Shimbun company, and Furanosuke Natsume – the author's grandson, who also supplied the voice.
The android will present lectures at the University and other venues, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the great person's thoughts as well as his appearance. The project will also help open the way to new research and new educational possibilities.
